Warner Bros. Discovery Asia-Pacific is a division of Warner Bros. Discovery that operates several television channels in Asia and Australasia, along with the Discovery+ streaming service. In April 2022, WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks Asia-Pacific (founded in 1989) merged with Discovery Asia-Pacific (founded in 1994) after their owners, WarnerMedia (then owned by AT&T before being spun off), merged with Discovery, Inc. It has consequently been announced that Discovery+, which is currently available in India and was available in the Philippines, would be merged with HBO Go, to form simply Max on November 19, 2024. Discovery Asia (formerly known as Discovery HD and Discovery HD World) is a Southeast Asian pay television channel that features Asia-related documentaries and original Asian programming. It is operated by Warner Bros. Discovery through its Asia-Pacific division. History The channel was launched in 2005 as Discovery HD, the first high-definition channel in Asia. CNN International Asia Pacific is the Asia-Pacific edition of the CNN International pay-TV cable network. The feed originates from Hong Kong and Indonesia. It officially launched on 1 August 1989. From 1997 until 2005, this edition included exclusive programmes to the Asia-Pacific region such as ''Asia This Day'', ''CNN This Morning'' (Asian edition), ''News Biz Today'' and ''Asia Tonight''. The amount of live programming on CNN International Asia Pacific in 1999 was five hours a day, rising from a mere two-and-a-quarter hours. Cinemax Asia is a pan-Asian pay television channel. Part of the HBO Asia network, it features action, science-fiction, thriller, and adult comedy films. Cinemax Asia is headquartered in Warner Bros. Discovery Asia office in Singapore. History Cinemax Asia (15 November 1996–28 March 2009) Cinemax Asia (which is the secondary channel of HBO Asia) was launched in 15 November 1996, it is a 24-hour movie channel which features movies in horror, suspense, thriller and action. Cartoonito (Asian TV Channel)
Cartoonito is the brand of two feeds that air animated series for preschoolers: Cartoonito Asia and Cartoonito Australia. Both are owned by Warner Bros. Discovery Asia-Pacific. The original version of Cartoonito was launched on 1 December 2012, replacing Boomerang Asia. The channel would close on 1 January 2015, with Boomerang relaunched as part of the 2015 global rebrand. As part of Cartoonito's 2021 relaunch, the brand returned to Asia as a block on Cartoon Network and Boomerang in March and May 2022 respectively; the block shifted to Boomerang full-time in November. Cartoon Network is a Pakistani pay television channel operated by Warner Bros. Discovery Asia-Pacific, Warner Bros. Discovery. It was launched on 2 April 2004, dedicating itself to Pakistani viewers. History On 1 October 2011, Cartoon Network Pakistan changed its logo along with the other Asian feeds, joining the ‘CN’ squares into a perfect rectangle. Cartoon Network, along with all other foreign television channels, were suspended in Bangladesh on 2 October 2021, for not broadcasting a clean feed. Cartoon Network Korea () is a South Korean pay television channel which launched on 11 November 2006 and owned by Warner Bros. Discovery under its International division. It is a based on South Korean version of the original United States television channel and primarily shows animated programming. Boomerang (Asian TV Channel)
Boomerang (currently rebranded as Boom in Thailand) is a pan-Asian cable and satellite television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery International. Like the original US version, this localization first began as a programming block that aired on Cartoon Network Asia (from 2001 to 2005), before becoming its own channel in 2004. On 1 December 2012, the channel was shut down and replaced with Toonami Asia. Eventually, the channel was relaunched on 1 January 2015 as part of Boomerang's 2015 global rebranding effort, replacing Cartoonito Asia. The channel (except in Thailand) was replaced by Cartoonito on 28 July 2023.
