Snow White Grotto
Snow White Grotto is an attraction at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which originally opened on April 9, 1961, Tokyo Disneyland at the Tokyo Disney Resort in Japan in 1983, and at Hong Kong Disneyland in Hong Kong in 2005. It is a wishing well located at the east of Sleeping Beauty Castle for Disneyland and west of Castle of Magical Dreams for Hong Kong Disneyland and Cinderella Castle for Tokyo Disneyland. Guests can throw a coin and make a wish in front of the grotto. When Tokyo Disneyland was under construction, the error in which Snow White was taller than the Dwarfs was corrected. However it was later decided to replicate the Disneyland version in which Snow White is the same height as the Dwarfs. Disneyland
Disneyland is a theme park in Anaheim, California. Opened in 1955, it was the first theme park opened by The Walt Disney Company and the only one designed and constructed under the direct supervision of Walt Disney. Disney initially envisioned building a tourist attraction adjacent to his studios in Burbank to entertain fans who wished to visit; however, he soon felt that the proposed site was too small. After hiring the Stanford Research Institute to perform a feasibility study determining an appropriate site for his project, Disney bought a site near Anaheim in 1953. Sleeping Beauty Castle
Sleeping Beauty Castle is a fairy tale castle at the center of Disneyland and formerly at Hong Kong Disneyland. It is based on the late 19th century Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. It appeared in the Walt Disney Pictures logos from 1985 to 2006 before being merged with Cinderella Castle, both iconic symbols of The Walt Disney Company. The version at Disneyland is the only Disney castle whose construction was overseen by Walt Disney. A redesigned and larger version of the castle is used as the icon of Disneyland Paris. Adriana Caselotti
Adriana Elena Loreta Caselotti (May 6, 1916 – January 18, 1997) was an American actress and singer. Caselotti was the voice of the title character of the first Walt Disney animated feature, ''Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'', for which she was named a Disney Legend in 1994, making her the first female voiceover artist to achieve this. Early life Adriana Caselotti was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to an Italian-American family. John Hench
John Hench (June 29, 1908 – February 5, 2004) was an American artist, designer and director at The Walt Disney Company. For 65 years, he helped design and develop various Disney attractions and theme parks. Early life Hench was born on June 29, 1908 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and raised in Southern California. He attended the Los Angeles Art Students' League. Hench attended further art and creative schools in the United States, including the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Art Institute in San Francisco, and the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. Snow White is a fictional character and a main character from Walt Disney Productions' first animated feature film ''Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'' (1937). Castle of Magical Dreams is the new centerpiece castle that replaced Sleeping Beauty Castle at Hong Kong Disneyland on 21 November 2020, as part of the park's 15th anniversary celebration. A wishing well is a term from European folklore to describe water well, wells where it was thought that any spoken wish would be granted. The idea that a wish would be granted came from the notion that water housed deity, deities or had been placed there as a gift from the gods. This practice is thought to have arisen because water is a source of life, and was often a scarce commodity.
