Rizal, officially the Province of Rizal ( fil, Lalawigan ng Rizal), is a province in the Philippines located in the Calabarzon region in Luzon. Its capital is the city of Antipolo. It is about east of Manila. The province is named after José Rizal, one of the main national heroes of the Philippines. Rizal is bordered by Metro Manila to the west, Bulacan to the north, Quezon to the east and Laguna to the southeast. The province also lies on the northern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. Rizal is a mountainous province perched on the western slopes of the southern portion of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Pasig served as its capital until 2008, even it became a part of the newly created National Capital Region since November 7, 1975. José Rizal
José Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda (, ; June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896) was a Filipino nationalist, writer and polymath active at the end of the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines. He is considered the national hero (''pambansang bayani'') of the Philippines. An ophthalmologist by profession, Rizal became a writer and a key member of the Filipino Propaganda Movement, which advocated political reforms for the colony under Spain. He was executed by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of rebellion after the Philippine Revolution broke out; it was inspired by his writings. Antipolo
Antipolo, officially known as the City of Antipolo ( fil, Lungsod ng Antipolo), is a 1st class component city and capital of the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 887,399 people. It is the most populous city in the Calabarzon region, and the seventh most-populous city in the Philippines. Antipolo was converted from a municipality into a component city of Rizal Province on April 4, 1998, under Republic Act No. 8508. Binangonan, officially the Municipality of Binangonan ( tgl, Bayan ng Binangonan) is a 1st class municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 313,631 people. A thriving fish port and fishing industry is found in Binangonan, having a long coast line facing the Laguna de Bay, including the western part of Talim Island. Rizal Provincial Board
The Rizal Provincial Board is the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial legislature) of the Philippine province of Rizal. The members are elected via plurality-at-large voting: the province is divided into four districts, the first and second district of Rizal sending four members each, and Antipolo's two districts sending one member each to the provincial board; the number of candidates the electorate votes for and the number of winning candidates depends on the number of members their district sends. Teresa, officially the Municipality of Teresa ( tgl, Bayan ng Teresa), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 64,072 people. It is situated in the slopes of the Sierra Madre Mountains and is landlocked on four corners by Antipolo on the north, Angono on the west, Tanay, on the east, and Morong, on the south. Most of the people here are Tagalogs.
