Powerwolf
Powerwolf (often stylized in all caps) is a German power metal band founded in 2004 in Saarbrücken by members of Red Aim. The band consists of vocalist Karsten Brill as "Attila Dorn", lead guitarist Benjamin Buss as "Matthew Greywolf", bassist/rhythm guitarist David Vogt as "Charles Greywolf", keyboardist Christian Jost as "Falk Maria Schlegel" and drummer Roel van Helden. The group uses religious themes and images, contrary to traditional power metal music, as well as corpse paint, gothic-tinged compositions and songs about werewolf and vampires, vampire legends. They released their debut album, ''Return in Bloodred,'' in 2005. Their second album, ''Lupus Dei'', was released in 2007. The band entered the official German charts for the first time in 2009 with their third album, ''Bible of the Beast''. The Sacrament Of Sin
''The Sacrament of Sin'' is the seventh studio album by German power metal band Powerwolf, released on 20 July 2018 by Napalm Records. The band wrote it during 2017 and began recording it in January 2018 at the Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. It was Jens Bogren's first production work for Powerwolf. Joost van den Broek assisted the band with orchestras. Musically, the album is different than previous recordings. The expression of the organ has changed, the orchestra has been added and unusual elements such as bagpipes or flute and the band recorded a ballad accompanied by the piano for the first time in its history. The main theme of the album from the point of view of lyrics is sin, but it is not a concept album. The album was rated positively by the critics, highlighting mainly the new elements that Powerwolf put in the music. ''Blessed & Possessed'' is the sixth studio album by German power metal band Powerwolf, released on 17 July 2015 by Napalm Records. The band wrote it during 2014 and began recording it in January 2015 at the Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden, and was produced by Fredrik Nordström. It was mastered in the Fascination Street Studios by Jens Bogren. Boxset and earbook editions of the album feature a bonus CD, '' Metallum Nostrum'', which contains 10 songs of different artists that Powerwolf's band members selected to cover. It was re-released separately on 11 January 2019. Background Powerwolf began writing their sixth album in June 2014. They finished in the December of the same year. Attila Dorn
Karsten Brill (; born 27 October 1970), best known professionally as Attila Dorn, is a German singer. He has been the lead vocalist of the power metal band Powerwolf since 2003. Career Dragon's Tongue and Meskalin (1991–1998) In 1991, Brill along with Derek Butsch (drums), Markus Görg (bass), Thorsten Neu (lead guitar) and Stefan Reile (rhythm guitar) created Dragon's Tongue, the first grunge band in Saarland. They quickly earned a very good reputation. They changed their name to Meskalin in 1996. The band was dissolved after the death of Derek Butsch in 1998. ''Interludium'' is the ninth studio album by German power metal band Powerwolf. The album was released on 7 April 2023 through Napalm Records and was produced by Joost van den Broek. Critical reception David E. Gehlke from Blabbermouth.net gave the album 7 out of 10 and said: "''Interludium'' is a quality, worthy addition to Powerwolf's expanding discography, but compilation or not, it shows that power metal bands don't take risks anymore. ''Blood of the Saints'' is the fourth studio album by German power metal band Powerwolf, released in 2011.- - - It is the band's first album with songs that had music videos, made for We Drink Your Blood and Sanctified with Dynamite. Charles Greywolf
David Vogt (; born 5 September 1975), best known by his stage name Charles Greywolf, is a German musician, record producer, mixer and recording engineer. He is best known as the rhythm guitarist of the power metal band Powerwolf. He runs a recording studio in Berus, called "Studio Greywolf". He is married to Helen Vogt, vocalist of Lighthouse in Darkness and formerly from Flowing Tears. Career In 2002, David Vogt joined Red Aim as a bassist under a stage name "El Davide". Benjamin Buss (; born 7 October 1977), best known by his stage name Matthew Greywolf, is a German musician, best known as the lead guitarist and a main songwriter in the power metal band Powerwolf. He's married to a photographer Janine Buss. Biography Buss comes from Wadgassen. He was raised in a Catholic family. He became interested in heavy metal music when he was 11 years old. In 1994, along with other people he started a band Flowing Tears & Withered Flowers. He was a guitarist and a keyboardist of the band. They changed their name to Flowing Tears in 1999. In 1995 along with his schoolmate Pascal Flach he founded Red Aim. He started Powerwolf along with Charles Greywolf (David Vogt) in 2003. ''Bible of the Beast'' is the third studio album by German power metal band Powerwolf. The album was released on 24 April 2009. It was recorded at the Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. ''Lupus Dei'' (Latin for ''Wolf of God'') is the second studio album by German power metal band Powerwolf. In addition to recording at Woodhouse Studios, Germany, the band recorded some parts of the album in the 12th-century ''Deutschherrenkapelle'' chapel in Saarbrücken. The band also used a 30-piece choir on the songs "In Blood We Trust" and "Lupus Dei". In a May 2007 interview with Lords of Metal, Matthew Greywolf talked about the story in ''Lupus Dei'': Well, generally 'Lupus Dei' is focussed on parables taken out of the Bible and set in context to our passion for metal.
