Powerwolf, often stylized as POWERWOLF, is a German power metal band founded in 2003 in Saarbrücken by members of Red Aim. The band consists of vocalist Karsten Brill as "Attila Dorn", lead guitarist Benjamin Buss as "Matthew Greywolf", bassist/rhythm guitarist David Vogt as "Charles Greywolf", keyboardist Christian Jost as "Falk Maria Schlegel" and drummer Roel van Helden. The group uses dark themes and images, contrary to traditional power metal music, as well as corpse paint, gothic-tinged compositions and songs about werewolf and vampire legends. They released their debut album, '' Return in Bloodred,'' in 2005. Their second album, ''Lupus Dei'', was released in 2007. The band entered the official German charts for the first time in 2009 with their third album, ''Bible of the Beast''. The Sacrament Of Sin
''The Sacrament of Sin'' is the seventh studio album by German power metal band Powerwolf, released on 20 July 2018 by Napalm Records. The band wrote it during 2017 and began recording it in January 2018 at the Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden. It was Jens Bogren's first production work for Powerwolf. Joost van den Broek assisted the band with orchestras. Musically, the album is different than previous recordings. The expression of the organ has changed, the orchestra has been added and unusual elements such as bagpipes or flute and the band recorded a ballad accompanied by the piano for the first time in its history. The main theme of the album from the point of view of lyrics is sin, but it is not a concept album. The album was rated positively by the critics, highlighting mainly the new elements that Powerwolf put in the music. ''Blessed & Possessed'' is the sixth studio album by the German power metal band Powerwolf, released on 17 July 2015 by Napalm Records. The band wrote it during 2014 and began recording it in January 2015 at the Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden, and was produced by Fredrik Nordström. It was mastered in the Fascination Street Studios by Jens Bogren. Boxset and Earbook Edition of the album features a bonus CD ''Metallum Nostrum'', which contains 10 songs of different artists that Powerwolf's band members selected to cover. Attila Dorn
Karsten Brill (; born 27 October 1970), best known by his stage name Attila Dorn, is a German singer. He has been the lead vocalist of power metal band Powerwolf since 2003. Career Dragon's Tongue and Meskalin (1991–1998) In 1991, Brill along with Derek Butsch (drums), Markus Görg (bass), Thorsten Neu (lead guitar) and Stefan Reile (rhythm guitar) created Dragon's Tongue, the first grunge band in Saarland. They quickly earned a very good reputation. They changed their name to Meskalin in 1996. The band was dissolved after the death of Derek Butsch in 1998. Red Aim (1999–2006) Brill joined Red Aim replacing Pascal Flach in 1999 under the stage name Dr. Don Rogers. ''Blood of the Saints'' is the fourth studio album by the German power metal band Powerwolf, released in 2011.- - - It is the band's first album with songs that had music videos, made for "We Drink Your Blood" and "Sanctified with Dynamite". In addition to recording at Studio Fredman, Sweden, the band recorded some parts of the album in the 12th-century ''Deutschherrenkapelle'' chapel in Saarbrücken. Charles Greywolf
David Vogt (; born 5 September 1975), best known by his stage name Charles Greywolf, is a German musician, record producer, mixer and recording engineer. He is best known as the guitarist of the power metal band Powerwolf. He runs a recording studio in Berus, called "Studio Greywolf". He's married to Helen Vogt, vocalist of Lighthouse in Darkness and formerly from Flowing Tears. Career In 2002, David Vogt joined Red Aim as a bassist under a stage name "El Davide". Matthew Greywolf
Benjamin Buss (; born 7 October 1977), best known by his stage name Matthew Greywolf, is a German musician, best known as the guitarist and a main songwriter in the power metal band Powerwolf. He's married to a photographer Janine Buss. Biography Buss comes from Wadgassen. He was raised in a Catholic family. He became interested in heavy metal music when he was 11 years old. In 1994, along with other people he started a band Flowing Tears & Withered Flowers. He was a guitarist and a keyboardist of the band. They changed their name to Flowing Tears in 1999. ''Bible of the Beast'' is the third studio album by the German power metal band Powerwolf. The album was released on 24 April 2009. It was recorded at the Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. Powerwolf revealed the details of their third album on 25 February 2009. They revealed the album cover on 3 March 2009. The album's single "Raise Your Fist, Evangelist" was released on 19 March 2009. Critical reception The record was able to place as the band's first album in the German charts and reached number 76. The Metal Hammer saw ''Bible of the Beast'' as the band's best album so far. ''Lupus Dei'' (Latin for ''Wolf of God'') is the second full-length studio album by the German power metal band Powerwolf. In addition to recording at Woodhouse Studios, Germany, the band recorded some parts of the album in the 12th-century ''Deutschherrenkapelle'' chapel in Saarbrücken. The band also used a 30-piece choir on the songs "In Blood We Trust" and "Lupus Dei". In a May 2007 interview with Lords of Metal, Matthew Greywolf talked about the story in ''Lupus Dei'': Well, generally 'Lupus Dei' is focussed on parables taken out of the Bible and set in context to our passion for metal. Falk Maria Schlegel
Christian Jost (born 29 September 1975), best known by his stage name Falk Maria Schlegel, is a German musician. He is best known as the keyboardist of power metal band Powerwolf. Career Jost started as a keyboardist of a progressive thrash metal band The Experience in 1993. He created layout for their ''Insight'' album. He joined Red Aim in 2002 under the stage names Ray Kitzler and Ray Volver. In 2003, along with other Red Aim members he joined Powerwolf. He takes care of all the organizational matters of the band and is the link between management, record label and booking agency. He also takes care of the most important aspects of the tour planning, the logistic implementation of the various stage designs and all other applicable planning and implementation.
