Phil Graham
Philip Leslie Graham (July 18, 1915 – August 3, 1963) was an American newspaperman. He served as publisher and later co-owner of ''The Washington Post'' and its parent company, The Washington Post Company. During his years with the Post Company, Graham helped ''The Washington Post'' grow from a struggling local paper to a national publication and the Post Company expand to own other newspapers as well as radio and television stations. He was married to Katharine Graham, a daughter of Eugene Meyer, the previous owner of ''The Washington Post''. Graham, who had bipolar disorder, died by suicide in 1963, after which Katharine took over as publisher, making her one of the first women in charge of a major American newspaper. Phillip Graham (born 4 January 1961) is a former Australian rules football player who played for Central District Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Early life and family Phillip Graham, an Aboriginal Australian man, was born on 4 January 1961. He grew up in Point Pearce on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. His father was Bradley Graham, who also played Aussie rules, winning a Mail Medal in the Mid North. Bradley's father was Cecil Graham, and football "was always a big part of family life". Cecil was a descendent of Kudnarto, a Kaurna woman famous for having made legal history by being the first Aboriginal Australian woman to marry a European settler in the colony of South Australia in 1848. Phillip Graham (born 21 June 1981) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played as a er and for the Canberra Raiders, Sydney Roosters and the Gold Coast Titans in the National Rugby League, NRL. Playing career Graham played 2 seasons for the Redcliffe Dolphins in the Queensland Cup before being signed by the Canberra Raiders in 2001. Graham won Canberra's rookie of the year award in 2002. In 2005, he was the Raiders' leading try-scorer. He played for City vs Country Origin, Country in the annual City vs Country match in 2007. Graham scored 68 tries in 111 games for Canberra. Graham should have had more tries to his name but his career was plagued by injuries. When fit and healthy, Graham was one of the quickest men in the game and had an uncanny knack of scoring long range intercept tries. Philip Graham (born 1959) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s. Career Graham was a member of the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks President's Cup side in 1977, but a desire to play for the St. George Dragons saw him graded at the Dragons in 1979. As a 19-year-old, he made his first grade debut on 29 July 1979 after being plucked from the Under 23's by coach Harry Bath. Peter Barton Wilson (born August 23, 1933) is an American attorney and politician who served as the 36th governor of California from 1991 to 1999. A member of the Republican Party, he also served as a United States senator from California between 1983 and 1991, and as the 29th mayor of San Diego from 1971 to 1983. Born in Lake Forest, Illinois, Wilson graduated from the UC Berkeley School of Law after serving in the United States Marine Corps. Philip Graham (born August 26, 1951) is an American author, professor, and editor. He is one of the founders, and the current editor-at-large, of the literary/arts journal, Ninth Letter, which won the MLA’s Best New Literary Journal Award in 2005. He is a professor emeritus in the Creative Writing Program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he received three campus-wide teaching awards. He has also taught in the low-residency MFA program of the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Additionally, he is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship, a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, two Illinois Arts Council grants, and the William Peden Prize in Fiction from The Missouri Review, as well as fellowship residencies at the MacDowell Colony and Yaddo artists' colony.
