List Of Political Parties In China
The People's Republic of China is a one-party state ruled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Despite this, eight subservient political parties officially exist. Under the one country, two systems principle, the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau, which were previously colonies of European powers, operate under a different political system to the rest of China. Currently, both Hong Kong and Macau possess multi-party systems that were introduced just before the handover of the territories to China. Minor parties While only the CCP holds effective power at the national level, there are officially eight minor parties that exist alongside the CCP. These minor parties are officially termed the "Democratic Parties" (). Founded prior to the proclamation of the People's Republic of China, these parties must accept the "leading role" of the CCP as a condition of their continued existence. Aaron Friedberg
Aaron Louis Friedberg (born April 16, 1956) is an American political scientist. He served from 2003 to 2005 in the office of the Vice President of the United States as deputy assistant for national-security affairs and director of policy planning. After receiving his PhD in government from Harvard University, Friedberg joined the Princeton University faculty in 1987 and was appointed professor of politics and international affairs in 1999. He has served as Director of Princeton's Research Program in International Security at the Woodrow Wilson School as well as acting director of the Center of International Studies at Princeton. Friedberg is a former fellow at the Smithsonian Institution’s Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the Norwegian Nobel Institute, and Harvard University’s Center for International Affairs. Jiusan Society
The Jiusan Society () is one of the eight legally recognised minor political parties in the People's Republic of China under the direction of the Chinese Communist Party. The party's original name was "Democracy and Science Forum" on its informal founding in 1944; the current name refers to the date of Chinese victory in the Second Sino-Japanese War (3 September 1945). The party is a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. The party's mission statement is to "lead the nation to power and the people to prosperity". The party's main focus is scientific and educational development. Ding Zhongli
Ding Zhongli (; born 14 January 1957) is a Chinese geologist and politician. He is a Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of the China Democratic League. Biography Ding was born in Shengzhou, Zhejiang Province, on 14 January 1957. In 1982, he earned his B.Sc of geochemistry from Zhejiang University. China Democratic League
The China Democratic League (CDL) is one of the eight legally recognized minor political parties in the People's Republic of China under the Chinese Communist Party's United Front. The CDL was originally founded in 1941 as an umbrella coalition group of the Chinese National Socialist Party, the Chinese Youth Party and the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party to fight the Imperial Japanese Army while providing for a "Third Way". By 2020, the party had grown to 330,600 members, making it the largest legally recognized minor political party in the People's Republic of China. Wan Gang (, born August 1952) is a Chinese expert on automobiles, former president of Tongji University (2002–2007) and former Minister of Science and Technology. He is the Chairman of the China Zhi Gong Party, a legally sanctioned minor political party in China, and, since 2013, also Vice Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
