Hung Hom
Hung Hom () is an area in the southeast of Kowloon Peninsula, Hong Kong. Including the area of Whampoa, Tai Wan, Hok Yuen, Lo Lung Hang and No. 12 Hill are administratively part of the Kowloon City District, with a portion west of Hung Hom Bay in the Yau Tsim Mong District. Hung Hom serves mainly residential purposes, but it is mixed with some industrial buildings in the north. Geography Hung Hom is in the southeast of the Kowloon Peninsula. It is bordered by Victoria Harbour in the south, King's Park in the west, No. 12 Hill, Hok Yuen and the valley Lo Lung Hang. in the north. History Originally, Hung Hom was much smaller than the present-day context. Hung Hom Bay has been partially reclaimed several times since 1850, expanding the area of Hung Hom as a consequence. Harbour Place () is a private housing estate in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong. History Hunghom Peninsula Formerly called Hunghom Peninsula () and built on the reclaimed land of Hung Hom Bay, it was an HOS estate comprising 2,470 flats completed by the Hong Kong government in 2002. Harbour Place Since the government decided to suspend the scheme, Hunghom Peninsula was sold to Sun Hung Kai Properties and New World Development in February 2004. In November 2004, the developers decided to demolish and rebuild the buildings. The environmentalists, legislators and citizens were worried about the waste pollution and strongly opposed the plan. English Schools Foundation
The English Schools Foundation (ESF) is an organisation that runs 22 international schools in Hong Kong. It is Hong Kong's largest English-medium organisation of international schools. It was founded in 1967 with the passage of the English Schools Foundation Ordinance, under which it is mandated to provide "without regard to race or religion, a modern liberal education through the medium of the English language". The foundation receives an ongoing subsidy from the Hong Kong Government, which is being phased out. It is also funded through tuition fees. In the 2021-22 academic year, these fees stood at HK$115,800 per annum for primary school students and HK$133,800 per annum for Years 7–11 secondary school students (HK$140,700 for Years 12 and 13). The Education Bureau (EDB) is responsible for formulating and implementing education policies in Hong Kong. The bureau is headed by the Secretary for Education and oversees agencies including University Grants Committee and Student Finance Office.
