HEBA
The Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association (HEBA, el, Ελληνικός Σύνδεσμος Ανωνύμων Καλαθοσφαιρικών Εταιρειών, ΕΣΑΚΕ) is a governing body for basketball in Greece. It directs the 14 pro Greek basketball sports clubs of the Greek Basket League, and also oversees the Greek Super Cup, and the HEBA Greek All-Star Game. It has been in charge of the top-tier level professional club basketball league in Greece since the 1992–93 basketball season, when it took over those duties from the Hellenic Basketball Federation. Greek Basket League
The Greek Basket League (GBL), often also referred to as the Greek A1 Basketball League, or Greek Basketball Championship (originally called Panhellenic Basketball Championship), and also known as the Stoiximan Basket League for sponsorship reasons, is the first tier level professional basketball league in Greece. It is run by HEBA ( el, ΕΣΑΚΕ, link=no), under the legal authority of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). It is the highest-tier level of the Greek league system. The GBL plays under FIBA rules and currently consists of 13 teams, with the lowest-placed team relegated to the A2 Basket League and replaced by the winner of the play-offs of that tier. It runs from October to June, with teams playing 22 games each during the regular season, and the top 8 teams then competing in the playoffs. HEBA Greek All Star Game
The HEBA Greek All-Star Game, also known as the EKO Greek All-Star Game for sponsorship reasons, is the All-Star Game of the HEBA ( Greek: ΕΣΑΚΕ) Greek professional basketball association for men. It was founded and organized by Gus Sarianides. The men's all-star game has most often been played in a format featuring the Greek All-Stars, versus the Rest of the World All-Stars. There is also a men's slam dunk competition, and a men's 3-point shootout competition. The all-star weekend also features a game between under age 22 players and senior age players (players that are retired professionals), called the Rising Stars versus the All-Time Stars. Finally, there are also youth 3-point shootout and youth slam dunk competitions, for the age 22 and under players. The Greek Basketball Super Cup or Greek Basket League Super Cup is the top-tier level professional basketball national super cup competition in Greece. The first edition of the tournament, was organized by the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.), in 1986. It was contested by the Greek Basket League champions and the Greek Basketball Cup winners. However, the Greek Basketball Super Cup was revived in 2020, by the Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association (HEBA), under a final four tournament format. Hellenic Basketball Federation
The Hellenic Basketball Federation ( el, Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Καλαθοσφαίρισης, abbreviated as Ε.Ο.Κ.) is the main basketball governing body for the sport in Greece. It directs and oversees all of the national basketball teams of Greece, including both the junior and senior national teams, of both men and women. Greek Basketball League System
The Greek basketball league system is a number of interconnected competitions for professional basketball clubs in Greece. The system has a hierarchical format with a promotion and relegation system between competitions at different levels. There are several different competitions in the system. The highest level competitions are the nationwide competitions: the Greek Basket League, the Greek A2 Basket League, the Greek B Basket League, and the Greek C Basket League.
