The Bones Of What You Believe
''The Bones of What You Believe'' is the debut studio album by Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches, released on 20 September 2013 by Virgin Records and Goodbye Records. Recorded between 2011 and 2013 in Glasgow, the album was written, composed, and produced by the band as a collaborative effort. It was made available as both a 12-track standard edition and an 18-track special version, the latter including two extra songs, two remixes and two live videos. The album was debuted with a launch party broadcast live on music streaming platform Boiler Room. The album's title derives from a lyric in the song "Strong Hand"; according to frontwoman Lauren Mayberry, it refers to the raw "creativity and effort" that served as the figurative and literal skeleton for the album. Musically, ''The Bones of What You Believe'' is primarily a synth-pop and indie pop album that incorporates 1980s influences. ''The Bones of What You Believe'' received critical acclaim, with many complimenting Mayber ...

Every Open Eye
''Every Open Eye'' is the second studio album by Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches. It was released on 25 September 2015 by Virgin EMI Records and Goodbye Records. Self-produced, it is the band's follow-up to their critically acclaimed debut album, ''The Bones of What You Believe'' (2013). The album title comes from a lyric in the song " Clearest Blue". The album received positive reviews from music critics and was listed on several year-end best-of lists. Recording and production Chvrches began work on their second album in January 2015, six weeks after returning from touring to promote their previous album ''The Bones of What You Believe''. Like ''The Bones of What You Believe'', recording took place in Alucard Studios, located in a basement flat owned by Cook, refurbished with the advance for the new album. The group were able to make enough money from sales of their debut studio album, which entered the top 10 of the UK Albums Chart as well as peaking at number 12 on the US ...

The Mother We Share
"The Mother We Share" is the debut single by Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches from their debut studio album, ''The Bones of What You Believe''. The song was re-released in the United Kingdom on 15 September 2013 by Virgin Records. The re-release peaked within the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart, reaching number 38 in September 2013. This made it their highest-charting single until 2019 when their collaboration with Marshmello's " Here With Me" reached number 9 on the UK Singles Chart in April 2019. Critical reception Michael Cragg of ''The Guardian'' gave the song a positive review, while noting the mood differences between the song and a previous Chvrches track, "Lies". He wrote that the song "tempers the monster synth riffs in favour of twinkling keyboards, padded drum claps and a central lyric that lends the whole thing a slightly melancholic edge." Duncan Cooper of ''The Fader'' praised Lauren Mayberry's vocals, comparing them to those of Megan James of Purity Ring. Ian Co ...

The Twilight Sad
The Twilight Sad are a Scottish post-punk/indie rock band, comprising James Graham (vocals), Andy MacFarlane (guitar), Johnny Docherty (bass), Brendan Smith (keyboards) and Grant Hutchison (drums). They have released five studio albums, as well as several EPs, live recordings and singles. Their 2007 debut album, '' Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters'', drew widespread acclaim from critics, who noted Graham's thick Scottish accent and MacFarlane's dense sonic walls of shoegazing guitar and wheezing accordion. The Twilight Sad's notoriously loud live performances have been described as "completely ear-splitting", and the band toured for the album across Europe and the United States throughout 2007 and 2008. Sessions inspired by stripped-down and reworked live performances yielded the 2008 mini-album, '' Here, It Never Snowed. Afterwards It Did''. The band's second album, ''Forget the Night Ahead'', marked a shift in their direction; lyrically more personal and musically darker and ...
