Canlubang Sugar Barons
The Canlubang Sugar Barons were a baseball team that played in the now defunct Manila Bay Baseball League. They were the baseball team of the Canlubang Sugar Estate which is also now defunct. The baseball team was organized by the Yulo family of Canlubang, Laguna who were involved in the sugar industry. During the World War II, when the Japanese occupiers of the Philippines established a baseball league in Manila, the Canlubang Sugar Barons competed under the name "Nan'yō Kōhatsu". The Sugar Barons dominated the Manila Bay Baseball League winning at least seven straight titles under manager, Rodolfo Tingzon. and had their home field in Laguna is the only regulation baseball field in the country at that time other than the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium. Calamba, officially the City of Calamba ( fil, Lungsod ng Calamba), is a 1st class component city in the province of Laguna, Philippines. The Japanese occupation of the Philippines (Filipino: ''Pananakop ng mga Japones sa Filipinas''; ja, 日本のフィリピン占領, Nihon no Firipin Senryō) occurred between 1942 and 1945, when Imperial Japan occupied the Commonwealth of the Philippines during World War II. Filomeno Codiñera Jr. (March 25, 1939 – October 25, 2016), also known as Boy Codiñera, was a Filipino baseball and softball player. He has represented both the men's national softball and baseball teams of the Philippines. He played as an outfielder in softball and as a third baseman in baseball.
