Bulgaria At The 2012 Summer Olympics
Bulgaria competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom from 27 July to 12 August 2012. It was the nation's nineteenth appearance at the Summer Olympics, having missed the Olympics on three occasions, including the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles because of the Soviet boycott. Despite this being London's third Olympic Games, this was the first time a Bulgarian team appeared at a London Olympics. The Bulgarian Olympic Committee sent the nation's smallest delegation to the Games, tying the record with Helsinki in 1952, and with Tokyo in 1964. A total of 63 athletes, 36 men and 27 women, competed in 16 sports. Men's volleyball was the only team event in which Bulgaria was represented in these Olympic games. There was only a single competitor in badminton, sprint canoeing, fencing, and judo. The Bulgarian Olympic Committee ( bg, Български олимпийски комитет, ''Balgarski olimpiyski komitet''; abbreviated as БОК, BOC) is a non-profit organization serving as the National Olympic Committee of Bulgaria and a part of the International Olympic Committee. Maria Grozdeva
Maria Zdravkova Grozdeva-Grigorova ( bg, Мария Здравкова Гроздева-Григорова; born on 23 June 1972) is a Bulgarian retired sport shooter, who competed in 25 metre pistol and 10 metre air pistol. She is the only woman to have successfully defended the 25 metre pistol title at the Olympic Games. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Women's 25 metre pistol, and Women's 10 metre air pistol. Apart from her five Olympic medals including two gold medals, Grozdeva also has been successful at CISM World Championships and ISSF World Cups. She is also the current holder of the final world record in 25 metre pistol. Life Grozdeva was born on 23 June 1972 in Sofia. Georgi Stoyanov Ivanov ( bg, Георги Стоянов Иванов; born 13 March 1985 in Sliven) is a Bulgarian shot putter. His personal best is 21.09 metres, achieved on 20 July 2013 in Ústí nad Labem. He won the gold medals at the 2001 World Youth Championships and the 2004 World Junior Championships, and the bronze medal at the 2003 European Junior Championships. Archery At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Individual
The men's individual archery competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from 27 July to 3 August at Lord's Cricket Ground. Oh Jin-Hyek of South Korea won the gold medal, followed by Takaharu Furukawa from Japan with silver and Dai Xiaoxiang, representing China, with the bronze. Competition format The competitors were ranked 1st to 64th based on their ranking round results and seeded into a head-to-head knock-out bracket based on this ranking. The 2012 Olympics introduced a new format for the knockout rounds. Each head-to-head match was a best-of-five sets match where each competitor shoots three arrows per set. Competitors received two points for winning the set and one point for a draw with the first competitor to reach six points winning the match.
