Findlay returned to Scotland as a teenager to play for Third Lanark of the

between 1921 and early 1923 (there were other players of the same name active at the time, including another at Third Lanark from summer 1923, but they do not appear to have coincided). At the time of his international selection in both 1924 and in 1928, he was playing for Galicia S.C. Following the Olympics, he signed with the New York Nationals of the American Soccer League. He also spent the 1930 fall season with the Brooklyn Wanderers.
