Early life

Sándor Szabó was born on 29 January 1941 in Hungary. Public documentation on his early life is limited, but it is known that he trained within Hungary’s state-supported sports system, which had produced multiple Olympic fencing champions.


Career

Szabó began competing internationally in the 1960s and earned a place on the Hungarian national fencing team. He made his Olympic debut at the
