He scored half-centuries in 1962–63, 1964–65 and 1966–67, with a highest scored of 87 not out coming in January 1965 against Northern Districts. He played only twice in 1967–68 and then dropped out of the Otago side until the 1973–74 season when he returned to captain the side in five Plunket Shield matches. He scored another half-century, making 64 against Central Districts, and played both of his List A matches during the season, although he failed to score in either of his one-day innings.
