History

The municipality of Rovde was established on 1 January 1905 when the old municipality of Sande was split in two with the eastern part becoming Rovde and the rest remained as Sande. Rovde had an initial population of 610, and included the villages of Larsnes and Rovdane. During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the
