In April 2013, the Wildhearts played a string of UK shows to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut full-length album ''

''. Each show comprised two sets – the first a performance of the album in full, the second an "audience participation section" in which show attendees were able to choose the songs. After an initial run of just four shows, the band later added six more dates across two weekends in June 2013. Recordings from the Rock City,

show were recorded by Rob Baldock of Re:Live Recordings and released as ''Rock City vs The Wildhearts'' starting on the band's April 2014 tour.
