In 2007, Winpenny also reported the first intrinsic spin-lattice (''T₁'') and phasecoherence (''T₂'') relaxation times in molecular nanomagnets. The results showed that the value of ''T₂'' in deuterated samples were of several orders of magnitude longer than the duration of spin manipulations which satisfies the prerequisite for the deployment of molecular nanomagnets in quantum information applications.
