Jonson was born on 30 May 1972, in Elgo on the northwestern shore of Lake Glafsfjord (Göta-Älv basin). Parents are farmers Bo Jonson and Marya Jonson. In 1991 he graduated from the sports gymnasium in Luxel. In 1998 he graduated from
