History

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1451. Before the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918, Porúbka was part of Zemplén County within the Kingdom of Hungary. From 1939 to 1944, it was part of the
Slovak Republic Slovakia (; sk, Slovensko ), officially the Slovak Republic ( sk, Slovenská republika, links=no ), is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It is bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the s ...
. On 26 November 1944, the Red Army dislodged the Wehrmacht from Porúbka and it was once again part of Czechoslovakia.


Geography

The municipality lies at an altitude of 310 metres and covers an area of 4.329 km². It has a population of about 280 people.
