land grant by Nicholas Fitzhugh, son of Henry Fitzhugh. In 1804,
Dr. David Stuart, a commissioner for the
Federal City, purchased Ossian Hall and relocated there with his wife,
Eleanor Calvert Custis Stuart, and their children.
