The website's critics consensus reads, "Chronicling the passage of time with well-observed sweep, ''One Day'' is by turns giddy and somber but always swooningly romantic." Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 76 out of 100 based on 19 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews".
