The township is in southwestern Jefferson County, south of Brookville and northwest of Punxsutawney. According to the

The entire township is part of the Allegheny River watershed. The township contains the unincorporated communities of Oliveburg, Sprankle Mills, Coolspring, Markton, East Branch, and Coulter.
