On 27 March 2017, after more than a year without coaching, he took over Sport, being relieved from his duties on 25 May after only 58 days in charge. On 6 May 2018, Franco was announced at Goiás in the second division. In December, after achieving promotion to the first division, he resigned. On 28 March 2019, Franco replaced Claudinei Oliveira at Chapecoense. He was sacked on 24 July, and returned to Goiás on 8 August, again replacing Claudinei Oliveira.
