History

Moj app was launched on 1st July 2020. It was coded and released in 30 hours immediately after the Indian government placed a ban on 59 Chinese apps. The app crossed over 10 million downloads in first six days of its launch. In January 2021, Moj crossed 100 million downloads on the Play Store within 6 months from its launch. In February 2022, ShareChat, the parent company of Moj app bought MX Takatak from Times Internet and merged it with Moj app. In July 2022, Moj app announced the launch of Moj LIVE - a live video streaming platform that enables creators to showcase their talent with their users in real-time. Since its launch, almost 2 million Moj live streams were recorded. In the year ended 2022, Moj app recorded 12 million monthly active creators creating 750 million videos.

partnered with an Indian firm for its Camera Kit technology. In August 2021, Moj app announced a multi-year agreement with T-Series. The partnership helped Moj app to access an extensive catalog of Indian music and provide an enhanced experience to its creator communities. In November 2021, Moj app partnered with e-commerce player Flipkart to enable ‘live e-commerce’ on its platform. In September 2022, Moj app partnered with SaaS platform for online stores - Dukaan. This enabled small and medium businesses on Dukaan to promote their products and services with the help of regional creators of Moj app.


Initiatives for creators

* Moj for creators: In April 2022, Moj app announced ‘Moj for Creators’ programme through which it plans to help creators monetise their content and boost their earnings. It aims to build a monetisation model for creators and drive engaging content on the platform in the long term. * Moj academy: In October 2022, Moj app launched an online learning and training program for creators - 'Moj Academy'. This will help them learn about the latest trends in content creation and build knowledge of different tools and skill sets that will enable them to build a career as content creators.The academy offers courses in various genres such as dance, entertainment, beauty & fashion, education & jobs, sports, food, art & craft, automobile and technology, health and fitness, and gaming.
