Early life and career
Born in Baní, Dominican Republic, Franjul is the son of Manuel Emilio Franjul Báez, a member of the prominent Franjul family of Asturian lineage, and Antonia Luisa Bucarelly Méndez, a teacher.
From the age of 17, Miguel Franjul devoted himself to journalism and in his long career of over 42 years has been director of three dailies and one weekly. He is presently the director of the morning paper
