Death and legacy
Giedraitis died on 6 April 1609 and was buried in a crypt of the Varniai Cathedral on 11 May. In his last will, Giedraitis left money for the upkeep of a church in

Giedraitis efforts and accomplishments were held in high regard, particularly by the Jesuits. They even reported apparitions of Giedraitis in Varniai Cathedral after his death. The cathedral chapter tasked Jonas Kazakevičius (Jan Kosakiewicz), auxiliary bishop of Samogitia, to write a biography of Giedraitis, but it was not done. Bishop
