Livonia is a village in eastern Putnam County, Missouri, United States. The population was 52 at the 2020 census.


History

The plat for Livonia was laid out in May 1859 by Absalom Grogan and consisted of four blocks containing eight lots each. Grogan was also the town's first postmaster. Following his death, the post office was moved to the farm of Joseph Martin approximately three miles to the north of the original plat. The town, for all practical purposes, followed this move and by 1888 had the post office, Martin's general store, the blacksmith shop of Dan Kelly, and a population of around 15. On July 26, 2011, the United States Postal Service announced plans to permanently close the Livonia post office as part of a nationwide restructuring plan.

The sex make-up of the village was 45.9% male and 54.1% female.

The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.29. 8.9% of the populationn were under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64 and 11.4% were 65 years of age or older.
