An Airstrip was constructed in the 1955 by the Public Works Department to facilitate the Koyna dam project. It is currently being used for General aviation and pilot training. He represented the Karad constituency of Maharashtra and is a member of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He is a former Indian Administrative Service officer.
