Kolhapur Airport
Kolhapur Airport , also known as Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj Airport is a regional airport in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. It is situated at Ujlaiwadi, 9 km South-East from Kolhapur. It is operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Future developments Kolhapur airport is undergoing a major upgrade, making it capable of handling Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 aircraft. The upgrade involves a new terminal building, increasing runway length to 2,300 metres, a new combined Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower and fire and rescue building and expanding its apron and related equipment. Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has acquired 223 hectares of adjoining land from local farmers in five villages at the cost of ₹ 80 crore for this purpose.The new terminal is under construction since 2019, and is expected to be completed by 2023. The Airports Authority of India, or AAI, is a public sector enterprise under the ownership of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. It is responsible for creating, upgrading, maintaining, and managing civil aviation infrastructure in India. It provides Communication Navigation Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) services over Indian airspace and adjoining oceanic areas. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) is an international airport that serves Hyderabad, the capital of the Indian state of Telangana. Kingfisher Airlines Limited was an airline group based in India. It was established in 2003 and started its commercial operations in 2005. Rajaram III
Rajaram III (31 July 1897 – 26 November 1940) of the Bhonsle dynasty, was Maharaja of Kolhapur from 1922–1940, succeeding his father Maharaja Shahu. A benevolent ruler, he was instrumental in the uplifting of the dalits and depressed castes in his state. He also established the Kolhapur High Court, modern housing developments, an updated water-supply system, free primary education and higher-level female education. Kolhapur (princely State)
Kolhapur State or Kolhapur Kingdom (1710–1949) was a Maratha princely State of India, under the Deccan Division of the Bombay Presidency, and later the Deccan States Agency. It was considered the most important of the Maratha principalities with the others being Baroda State, Gwalior State and Indore State. Its rulers, of the Bhonsle dynasty, were entitled to a 19-gun salute – thus Kolhapur was also known as a 19-gun state. The state flag was a swallow-tailed saffron pennant.
