In 1978 he graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Agricultural Institute, specializing in agricultural scientist. In 1991, Kirilenko was a graduate of the Academy of Social Sciences in Moscow, the specialty analyst. Doctor of Economics, Ph.D. in History.
