facilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid Yashobhoomi's foundation stone on 20 September 2018. Construction began on the following day and was expected to be completed by September 2022 so that Yashobhoomi could host the G20 Summit in 2023. However, labour shortages and slowdowns in work caused by the COVID-19 pandemic delated completion to 15 September 2023. Yashobhoomi was inaugurated by Modi on 17 September 2023. Its development cost , out of which its first phase costs . The total area of the entire convention center is 890,000 m2, with built-up areas of over 100,000 m2 and 300,000 m2, while its first phase covers 73,000 m2.

was held. It has 15 convention centres, which include the main auditorium, the Grand Ballroom and 13 meeting centres, having a total capacity of holding 11,000 people. The meeting rooms are made across eight floors in the main auditorium specialised to hold various meetings of different topics. The entire complex upon full completion in the second phase, will have five large exhibition centres, including a multi-purpose arena with a retractable roof and seating capacity of 20,000 people. Each centre will cover a floor area of over 10 lakh sq.ft., equalling the size of four football grounds. The complex will be able to host aircraft expositions as well because of their abundant space.

The complex is equipped with an advanced wastewater treatment plant with 100 percent wastewater reusing and rainwater harvesting systems for water construction and rooftop solar panels on all structures for clean and sustainable energy and electricity generation.
