Wyler was born Gretchen Patricia Wienecke in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Peggy (
née Highley) and Louis Gustave Wienecke, a petroleum engineer. She was raised in
Bartlesville, Oklahoma and opened her own dancing school there before going to
