After his death, he encounters his ancestors, who return him to life in return for a vow to fight for justice. There is one catch: he has to wait for Deborah Wallace to return to Ireland (after emigrating to
America) before he can return.

Powers and abilities
The Gay Ghost is able to leave Collins' body at will and can also materialise/dematerialise at will. Apart from that, he is a keen swordsman and hand-to-hand fighter.

''Batman: The Animated Series''
Although the Gay Ghost did not appear in '' Batman: The Animated Series'', the man he possesses, Charles "Charlie" Collins, does appear in the episode "Joker's Favor". He bears absolutely no resemblance to his comic book counterpart, and he was just used as a pawn by the Joker.
''Law & Order''
Gay Ghost comic books were mentioned in a 2010 '' Law & Order'' episode, "Love Eternal" (season 20, episode 22). The phrase "he was cheerful" is a recurring line.
