Demolition Team
The Demolition Team are fictional characters, a team of mercenaries in the DC Comics DC Universe, universe. They first appeared in ''Green Lantern'' #176 (May 1984) and were created by Len Wein and Dave Gibbons. Fictional character history In their initial appearance, the Demolition Team were hired by Congressman Jason Bloch to destroy the Los Angeles branch of Ferris Aircraft. The Ferris employees were virtually defenseless against the team and their state-of-the-art weaponry provided by the Monitor (comics), Monitor. Help finally arrived in the form of the mysterious Carol Ferris, Predator who defeated the entire team unaided. It is assumed the Demolition Team were sent to prison soon after the incident. The Demolition Team returned several years later with updated technology only to be handily defeated by the Blood Pack (comics), Blood Pack after attacking a nuclear power plant in Germany. Dave Gibbons
David Chester Gibbons (born 14 April 1949) is an English comics artist, writer and sometimes letterer. He is best known for his collaborations with writer Alan Moore, which include the miniseries ''Watchmen'' and the Superman story "For the Man Who Has Everything". He was an artist for ''2000 AD (comics), 2000 AD'', for which he contributed a large body of work from its first issue in 1977. Early life Gibbons was born on 14 April 1949, at Forest Gate Hospital in London, to Chester, a town planner, and Gladys, a secretary. He began reading comic books at the age of seven. ''The OMAC Project'' is a six-issue American comic book limited series written by Greg Rucka with art by Jesus Saiz and published by DC Comics in 2005. Overview The book is one of four miniseries leading up to DC Comics' ''Infinite Crisis'' event. The series directly follows the ''Countdown to Infinite Crisis'' special, picking up the story where the special left off. The OMACs mentioned in the title borrow their name and general appearance from the 1974 Jack Kirby creation OMAC. However, the OMACs in this 2005 miniseries differ from the original in other ways, including the term underlying the acronym that forms their name: in Kirby's stories, "OMAC" stands for "One-Man Army Corps", while in this miniseries, "OMAC" stands for "Observational Metahuman Activity Construct" (constructed backwards from the Kirby acronym as a form of backronym). Jackhammer
A jackhammer (pneumatic drill or demolition hammer in British English) is a pneumatic or electro-mechanical tool that combines a hammer directly with a chisel. The Inferior Five (or I5) are a parody superhero team appearing in books by the American publisher DC Comics. Created by writer E. Gunfire is a fictional DC Comics superhero and freelance anti-terrorist operative.
