France Stratégie succeeded the General Planning Commission (1946-2006) and its short-lived replacement the Centre d'Analyse Stratégique (2006-2013). It was initially located in the historic at 18, rue de Martignac in Paris. In 2017, it moved together with other services of the Office of the Prime Minister of France to the newly renovated office complex known as .
