In 1993, Beal was named executive director of the National Volleyball League, the first professional league organized and operated under the auspices of U.S. Volleyball. In January 2005, Beal was named Chief Executive Officer of USA Volleyball, the governing body of Volleyball in the United States. In February 2016, Beal announced his retirement as the CEO of the USA volleyball, after serving 11 years in his post. He will retire on January 2, 2017.
