He was placed back on injured reserve on November 16 with a shoulder injury. On August 31, 2021, James was waived by the Eagles and re-signed to the practice squad the next day. He was placed on the COVID list on January 1, 2022 and activated three days later, missing just one game. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Eagles on January 18, 2022. He was released July 18, 2022.
