American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays; if they fail, they turn over the football to the defense, but if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs to continue the drive. Points are scored primarily by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. Henry Anderson (American Football)
Henry Wyatt Anderson (born August 3, 1991) is an American football defensive end for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Stanford, and was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Early years Anderson attended Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia. He played football there under head coach Mark Miller, and he had 183 tackles and 20.5 sacks during his career. He totalled 81 tackles (14 for loss), 9.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and six pass breakups in 2009, leading Woodward Region 4AAA runner-up finish. He was named first-team All-state in 2009 by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, was a three-time South Fulton Neighbor All-South Metro and a two-time All-4AAA Region pick. Dave Ball (defensive End)
David Stewart Ball (born January 4, 1981) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons. He played college football for the UCLA Bruins, and earned unanimous All-American honors. He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft, and has also played for the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans of the NFL. Early years Ball was born in Fairfield, California. He attended Dixon High School in Dixon, California, where he was a three-year letterman for the Dixon High School football and basketball teams. College career Ball attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he played defensive end for the Bruins from 2000 to 2003. He was a starter during his final three seasons. Ralph Baker (linebacker)
Ralph Robert Baker (born August 25, 1942) is a former professional American football player. Baker was drafted in both the 1964 AFL and NFL drafts—the Pittsburgh Steelers selected him with their 3rd-round pick, while the New York Jets used their 6th-round pick to select him. Baker elected to sign with New York and played linebacker position for 141 games over 11 seasons (1964–1974). This included the Jets' Super Bowl III victory. In 1979, he was hired as Vice Principal of the Chief Logan High School in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. This period marked a time of trouble within the rebellious student body and, after one year, both Baker and the school's head principal resigned. He retired as principal of Tuscarora Junior High School in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, in 2010. Baker played college football at Penn State University where he was a member of Sigma Pi fraternity. Josh Baker
Joshua Stevenson Baker (born December 25, 1986) is a former American football tight end. He played college football at Northwest Missouri State and the University of Delaware. He played high school football at Western Branch High School. College career Baker began his college career at the University of Delaware in 2005. Although among the team's top scout team players, Baker did not participate in a formal match-up that year. In 2006, he was named the Blue Hens' third string tight end appearing in ten games in a back-up role primarily on running plays and special teams. Baker recorded one catch for no yards and had a 14-yard kickoff return. William Ernest Bain (born August 9, 1952) is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League (NFL). High school and college careers Bain attended St. Paul High School, where he played for coach Marijon Ancich. Bain played college football at the University of Southern California and was an All-America offensive lineman in 1974. Bain also played at University of Colorado and San Diego City College. Professional career Bain played 11 seasons in the NFL. Steve Atwater
Stephen Dennis Atwater (born October 28, 1966) is an American former professional football player who spent most of his career playing free safety for the Denver Broncos of the National Football League (NFL). Atwater and Dennis Smith made up a Broncos secondary that was known for their ferocious hits on opposing players. He was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time Super Bowl champion. Atwater was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on February 1, 2020.
