The station opened on 1 April 1868M E Quick, ''Railway Passenger Stations in England Scotland and Wales—A Chronology'', The Railway and Canal Historical Society, 2002, p. 120 by the Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway. The station closed to both passengers and goods traffic on 1 April 1913.
