Casal Velino, also spelled ''Casalvelino'', is a town and ''
comune'' in the
province of Salerno in the
Campania region of south-western
Italy.
History
The village, first mentioned in the 11th century, was named ''Casalicchio'' until 1893. It was renamed Casal Velino in homage to the ancient and nearby town of
Velia, whose male demonym is "Velino".
