History

The event was established in 1987, and it was originally held at Ascot. The inaugural running was abandoned because of a waterlogged course. For a period the race held Listed status, and it was promoted to Group 3 level in 2003. The Autumn Stakes was transferred to Newmarket in 2011. It became part of a new fixture called Future Champions Day but from 2014 it moved to be run at the same fixture as the
