In 2017, she auditioned for a Turner Classic Movies hosting role, and the following January, in 2018, she was hired by the network. She said that in order to prepare for work as a host on TCM, she needs to watch all of the films which are to screen on TCM, do research in order to understand the background behind the films, and also know how to expertly read a teleprompter.

Malone has presented two separate
TEDx talks on obstacles women have faced in the movie industry. The first which she presented on December 20, 2015 was entitled ''#GirlsInFilm'' for
TEDxSanJuanIsland. In this talk she spoke to the under representation of women and girls in the film industry. The second TED talk, which she presented on July 6, 2017, was called ''Female Directors in Hollywood & Impact of Movies Made From 1 Perspective''. She presented this TED talk for
TEDxBend. She told stories of the history of Hollywood, and how women have argued that women needed to be directors so that more than
one type of story would be told.
