History

The Town of Albion was created in 1875 by the division of the Town of Barre. The population in 1890 was 1,304.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 25.4 square miles (65.7 km2), of which 25.2 square miles (65.3 km2) is land and 0.1 square mile (0.3 km2) (0.47%) is water. The Erie Canal passes through the town.
