Žebrák
Žebrák () is a town in Beroun District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,200 inhabitants. Administrative parts The village of Sedlec is an administrative part of Žebrák. Geography Žebrák is located about southwest of Beroun and southwest of Prague. It lies mostly in the Hořovice Uplands, the northern part of the municipal territory extends into the Křivoklát Highlands and into the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. The highest point is a contour line at above sea level. The Stroupínský Stream flows through the town. It supplies two fishponds in the area, Žebrácký and Radost. History The first written mention of Žebrák is from 1280. It became a busy marketplace on the trade route from Prague to Plzeň and Bavaria. In 1396, it was promoted to a town by King Wenceslaus IV. Žebrák Castle
Žebrák Castle (German language, German ''Burg Bettlern'') lies in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. More accurately, it is in the Beroun District above the village of Točník and from the village of Žebrák. It was built by the Zajíc family. The two castles, Točník Castle, Točník and Žebrák, make up a picturesque "couple," standing almost right next to each other. History The castle was built in the second half of the 13th century by Oldřich Zajíc III, but the Zajíc family soon moved elsewhere and sold the castle to the king. In 1336, the house of Luxembourg acquired Žebrák and in 1346, Jindřich of the Luxembourg house started renovating it. He later gave the castle to Karel IV, who became the Holy Roman Emperor shortly afterwards. Karel's son Václav IV liked the castle very much, but after the large fire in 1395, he built a more strategically positioned castle above it. Oldřich Nejedlý
Oldřich Nejedlý (26 December 1909 – 11 June 1990) was a Czechs, Czech Association football, footballer, who spent his entire professional career at Sparta Prague as an Forward (association football)#Inside forward, inside-forward. He is considered to be one of Czechoslovakia's greatest players of all time. He was the top goalscorer of the 1934 FIFA World Cup, 1934 World Cup. Club career Nejedlý played for Sparta Prague during his entire professional span. He scored 162 league goals in 187 games, winning four Czechoslovak First League championships in 1932, 1936, 1938 and 1939, adding a Mitropa Cup in 1935. He also scored 18 goals in 38 games for SK Rakovník (1943, 1944 and 1946), giving him a total of 180 league goals in 225 games. Wenceslaus IV (also ''Wenceslas''; cs, Václav; german: Wenzel, nicknamed "the Idle"; 26 February 136116 August 1419), also known as Wenceslaus of Luxembourg, was King of Bohemia from 1378 until his death and King of Germany from 1376 until he was deposed in 1400. In ancient times, only the Sun and Moon, a few stars, and the most easily visible planets had names. Over the last few hundred years, the number of identified astronomical objects has risen from hundreds to over a billion, and more are discovered every year. Astronomers need to be able to assign systematic designations to unambiguously identify all of these objects, and at the same time give names to the most interesting objects, and where relevant, features of those objects. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) is the recognized authority in astronomy for assigning designations to celestial bodies such as stars, planets, and minor planets, including any surface features on them. The Ondřejov Observatory (; cs, Observatoř Ondřejov) is the principal observatory of the Astronomical Institute () of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It is located near the village of Ondřejov, southeast of Prague, Czech Republic. It has a wide telescope, which is the largest in the Czech Republic. Lenka Kotková
Lenka Kotková ('' née'' Šarounová; born 26 July 1973) is a Czech astronomer and a discoverer of minor planets. She works at Observatoř Ondřejov (Ondřejov Observatory), located near Prague. Besides numerous main-belt asteroids she also discovered Mars-crosser asteroid 9671 Hemera and Hilda family asteroid 21804 Václavneumann. Lenka Kotková studied meteorology at the faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University in Prague. Her tasks at the Astronomical institute AV ČR in Ondřejov are primarily the development of databases, spectroscopical and photometric observation, and data processing. Petr Pravec (born September 17, 1967) is a Czech astronomer and a discoverer of minor planets, born in Třinec, Czech Republic. Pravec is a prolific discoverer of binary asteroids, expert in photometric observations and rotational lightcurves at Ondřejov Observatory. He is credited by the Minor Planet Center with the discovery and co-discovery of 350 numbered minor planets, and is leading the effort of a large consortium of stations called "BinAst" to look for multiplicity in the near-Earth objects and inner main-belt populations. He is a member of the ''Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic''.
