Beroun District ( cs, okres Beroun) is a district ('' okres'') within Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. Its capital is the town of Beroun. Districts Of The Czech Republic
Districts of the Czech Republic are territorial units, formerly used as second-level administrative divisions of the Czech Republic. After their primary administrative function has been abolished in 2003, they still exist for the activities of specific authorities and as statistical units. Their administrative function was moved to selected municipalities. Establishment In 1960, Czechoslovakia was re-divided into districts ('' okres'', plural ''okresy'') often without regard to traditional division and local relationships. In the area of the Czech Republic, there were 75 districts; the 76th Jeseník District was split in the 1990s from Šumperk District. Three consisted only of statutory cities Brno, Ostrava and Plzeň which gained the status of districts only in 1971; Ostrava and Plzeň districts were later expanded. Hudlice
Hudlice is a municipality and village in Beroun District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,200 inhabitants. Administrative parts Hudlice is made up of one administrative part. Geography Hudlice is situated in a steep slope of the Krušná hora mountain, a part of the Křivoklát Highlands. Historical part of the village follows unnamed creek, the right tributary of the Libotický creek. The main watercourses are Dibeřský and Libotický creeks. Dibeřský creek flows through Běstiny ravine, where Hudlice water source is placed. Hořovice
Hořovice (; german: Horschowitz, Horvitz, Horowitz) is a town in Beroun District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 6,900 inhabitants. Administrative parts Hořovice is made up of only one administrative part. History Hořovice was founded between 1303 and 1322, however archaeological excavations proves existence of an early settlement already in the 10th century. There was a trading post, later rebuilt and expanded into a castle in the Gothic style (the so-called "Old Castle"). Due to frequent fires in the town (in 1540, 1590, 1624, 1639, 1690 and 1694) and reconstructions, almost all documents of Gothic and Renaissance architecture were destroyed. The construction of the Bohemian Western Railroad in around 1862 contributed to the development of industry.
