The Škoda Fabia WRC is a World Rally Car built for the Škoda Motorsport by Škoda Auto in the World Rally Championship. It is based upon the Škoda Fabia road car, and was debuted at the 2003 Rally Deutschland. The R5 version was launched in 2015. Competition history The car was introduced at the 2003 Rally Deutschland The 2003 Rallye Deutschland (formally the 22nd ADAC Rallye Deutschland) was the eight round of the 2003 World Rally Championship. The race was held over three days between 25 July and 27 July 2003, and was based in Trier, Germany. Citroen's Séb ..., replacing the Octavia WRC. However, the car did not score any point in the season, which led the season to a development year. The car won twelve stages in its fifty-seven contested WRC events, but failed to achieve any podium. World Rally Car
A World Rally Car is a racing automobile built to the specific regulations set by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and designed for competition in the World Rally Championship (WRC). The cars were introduced in 1997 as a replacement for Group A regulations used in the manufacturers' championship, and were replaced by Group Rally1 in 2022. Janne Tuohino
Janne Tuohino (born 22 May 1975) is a Finnish rally driver. Career He began his rally career in 1993 when he entered a rally sprint in a Toyota Starlet. Although his first true rally was in January 1994, in which he drove a Ford Escort RS 2000. By the end of 1994 he was driving in Lancia Delta in which he competed most of his Finnish rallies. His father helped pay for the Lancia. After receiving an international rally licence he imported an Opel Kadett from Sweden. With his newly acquired licence he entered the Finnish Rally Championship. Near the end of the championship he replaced the Kadett with an Opel Astra. In 1997 he turned to car manufacturer Mitsubishi and purchased a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Mk. III. With the aid of Mitsubishi he became the Finnish Group N Champion, in 1999. Tuohino then moved on to drive in a private Ford Escort WRC and in the end came 8th in the Rally Finland of 1999. The Škoda Fabia R5 is a rally car built by Škoda Motorsport. It is based upon the Škoda Fabia road car and is built to R5 regulations. It made its competition début in 2015 as a successor to the Škoda Fabia S2000. The car proved to be very successful in the World Rally Championship-2 class, winning thirty-five events between 2015 and 2018. Esapekka Lappi won the 2016 World Rally Championship-2 drivers title with four victories, Pontus Tidemand won the 2017 championship and Jan Kopecký won the 2018 championship. Škoda Motorsport won the FIA World Rally Championship-2 for Teams in 2015, 2016 and 2017. The Å koda Fabia is a supermini car produced by Czech manufacturer Å koda Auto since 1999. It is the successor of the Å koda Felicia, which was discontinued in 2001. World Rally Championship
The World Rally Championship (abbreviated as WRC) is the highest level of global competition in the motorsport discipline of rallying, owned and governed by the FIA. There are separate championships for drivers, co-drivers, manufacturers and teams. The series currently consists of 13 three to four-day rally events driven on surfaces ranging from gravel and tarmac to snow and ice. Each rally is usually split into 15–25 special stages which are run against the clock on up to 350 kilometres of closed roads.
