Şehitkamil
Şehitkamil is a district of Gaziantep Province of Turkey. It is part of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality. It contains the old city, including Gaziantep Castle, as well as the University of Gaziantep. The population is 593,958 as of 2010. On 20 August 2012, a bomb attack occurred, killing at least eight and wounding nearly 64 people. 2012 Gaziantep Bombing
The 2012 Gaziantep bombing was a terrorist bomb attack which occurred in the city of Gaziantep, Turkey on 20 August 2012, the second day of the three-day celebrations of "Şeker Bayramı" (Eid-ul-Fitr) that refers to the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Attack The bomb blast occurred at 19:45 in local time. Bombs were planted in a truck and remotely detonated near Karşıyaka police station in Şehitkamil district, one of the most crowded areas of the city. The police station was the target of the attack. As a result of the explosion, two public buses caught fire, increasing the casualties. Many other cars parked on the street and shops were also badly damaged by the blast. Casualties The attack killed eight people. The next day, a 12-year-old girl died of her wounds. Four of the dead were children. Gazikentspor Women's Football Club ( tr, Gazikentspor Bayan Futbol Takımı) is a women's association football, women's football club based in Gaziantep, Turkey. Founded in 2006, the club is located in the Gazikent neighborhood of Şehitkamil district. The team manager is Cesim Karalar. The club's colors are red, green and white. The team play their home matches in the Gazikent Stadium within the Gazikent Sports Complex. After defeating the Ankara-based Fomget Gençlik Spor in the second leg of the Turkish Women's Second Football League, Women's Second League play-off match, the team was promoted to play in the 2014–15 season of Turkish Women's First Football League. Gaziantep (), previously and still informally called Aintab or Antep (), is a major city and capital of the Gaziantep Province, in the westernmost part of Turkey's Southeastern Anatolia Region and partially in the Mediterranean Region, approximately east of Adana and north of Aleppo, Syria. Gaziantep Province ( tr, ) is a province in south-central Turkey. It is located in the westernmost part of Turkey's Southeastern Anatolia Region and partially in the Mediterranean Region. Gaziantep Castle
Gaziantep Castle is a castle first built by the Hittite Empire as an observation point and later built into a main castle by the Roman Empire on top of a hill at the center of Gaziantep, Turkey, in 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. It underwent further expansion and renovation under Emperor Justinianus between 527 and 565 AD. The circumference of the round shaped castle is 1200 meters.
