Øystein B. Blix
Øystein Bjørn Blix (born 5 November 1966 in Tromsø, Norway) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (trombone) and sound designer, central to the Tromsø Jazz scene and Head of ''Tromsø Jazzklubb'' from 2001. Career Blix is a graduate of the Jazz Program at '' Trondheim Musikkonservatorium'' (1988). He was first recognized as trombonist in the band "Jazz i Nord" together with Jørn Øien (piano), Konrad Kaspersen (double bass) and Trond Sverre Hansen (drums) releasing the album ''Song, Fall Soft'' featuring Marit Sandvik (vocals) in 1997. He has led the trio "Pentateuch" expanding to the quartet "Blix Band" in 1990. They released the album ''På en lyserød sky'' (1997), including Niels Præstholm (double bass), Nils-Olav Johansen (guitar) and Tor Haugerud (drums). Tore Johansen
Tore Johansen (born 23 December 1977) is a Norwegian jazz trumpeter and the younger brother of drummer Roger Johansen. He has worked with Chick Corea, Karin Krog, Kenny Wheeler, Steve Swallow, Lars Jansson, Hal Galper, Siri Gellein, and Jan Gunnar Hoff. Career Johansen was born in Bodø. As a teenager, he played in the Bodø Jazz Quintet with his brother Roger Johansen and saxophonist Atle Nymo. In 1994 he started his first band with his brother, Terje Venaas (double bass,) and Einar Thorbjørnsen (piano), and joined Bodø Big Band (1994–96) led by saxophonist Henning Gravrok. He was educated at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium where he became a lecturer. He has played with the Swedish saxophonist Nisse Sandström and has appeared with Karin Krog. NorCD
NorCD (established 1991 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label for folk, jazz, world music and improvisational music, led by the founder saxophonist and composer Karl Seglem. NorCD is distributed through Musikkoperatørene, and is a member of FONO. Biography In 1991 Karl Seglem decided to create a new free record label to distribute his music. The company soon enlisted a number of Norwegian performers in different genres. A derivation of the company was the label SOFA, which focused on the European improv, led by Ingar Zach and Ivar Grydeland. The NorCD catalog features 110 CD-titles (spring 2012) with many of the foremost Norwegian jazz and folk musicians. Stubøprisen
Stubøprisen (an Award initiated in 1989, in memory of the late guitar virtuoso and Northern Norway Enthusiast Thorgeir Stubø) is the highest honor given to a Northern Norwegian jazz musician. The award is given every second year to a person who makes or has made a special contribution to the Northern Norwegian Jazz Scene by the Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund (established 1987). The idea behind Thorgeir Stubø Memorial Fund is to honor a great jazz musician and simultaneously stimulate Northern Norwegian culture. Gaute Barlindhaug is an electronic musician from Tromsø, Norway. He is currently known under the artist name Kolar Goi. Career As a member of the quartet Aedena Cycle, together with Torbjørn Brundtland and Svein Berge from Röyksopp, and Kolbjørn Lyslo, he was a part of the second generation of the Tromsø techno scene. In 1994, they released the acclaimed ''The Travellers’ Dream'' EP on the Belgium record label Apollo. A few compilations contributions and some rare live appearances followed, before the members went in different directions.
