Øverlandselva is a river that flows through Bærum, Norway. It starts near Øverland, Bærum, Øverland in northern Bærum, at the confluence of the creeks Seternbekken and Ilabekken. It runs south and southwest, emptying into the eastern side of Engervannet at Blommenholm. A river runs from Engervannet and flows into Sandvikselva, but this portion is called Rønneelva. Øverland, Bærum
Øverland is an area in Bærum, Norway. Named after the local farm, Øverland is also known as a recreational area and for its arboretum. It has lent its name to the river Øverlandselva. Geography The area is located north of Haslum, west of Hosle and south of Bærumsmarka. The river Øverlandselva runs past Øverland farm, whence the river got its name. A bridge over it was mentioned as early as 1594 by Jens Nilssøn, and it is considered a part of the so-called Pilgrim's Route. The river continues south through Haslum before turning southwest near Løkeberg, ultimately emptying into the lake Engervannet at Blommenholm. The southernmost section has formerly been called Løkebergelva. History and usage The name of the area is taken from the farm Øverland. Historic spellings of the name include ''Efraland'' and ''Øfraland'', used around the fourteenth century, as well as ''Offuerlandt'' (1578), ''Øffueland'' (1594) and ''Øffverland'' (1723). Bærum () is a municipality in the Greater Oslo Region in Norway that forms an affluent suburb of Oslo on the west coast of the city. Eastern Norway
Eastern Norway ( nb, Østlandet, nn, Austlandet) is the geographical region of the south-eastern part of Norway. It consists of the counties Vestfold og Telemark, Viken, Oslo and Innlandet. Viken, Norway
Viken (Old Norse: VÃk or VÃkin), or Vika, was the historical name during the Viking Age and the High Middle Ages for an area of Scandinavia that originally surrounded the Oslofjord and included the coast of Bohuslän. Its definition changed over time, and from the Middle Ages, Viken included only Bohuslän. Sandvikselva
Sandvikselva, formerly known as Løxa, is a river in Bærum, Norway, originating at the intersection of the two rivers Lomma and Isielva at Wøyen. The river flows into the Oslo Fjord 4.5 km south at Sandvika, though the center of the city, where it is crossed by the historic Løkke Bridge, the first cast iron bridge in Norway. At the mouth there are three bridges over the river. There were formerly water mills for industry along the line, including at Franzefoss for Franzefoss Bruk. The river regularly floods, and landslides have occurred. There is a measuring station for water levels and pollution at Bjøregårdsvingen.
